Days of Thanks: Thanksgiving

I have to say that, along with April Fool's Day (the nice version), Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year. In my family, it has fewer of the pressures associated with Christmas, while at the same time, facilitating the gathering of family (and even, sometimes, friends).

It's a time to be thankful for what we have, rather than wishing we'd been a little more specific with our wish list. It's a holiday of contentment. And though Christmas may be intended to be about giving, it's often distorted to a holiday of getting. Finally, I'm thankful that Thanksgiving comes before Christmas, so we have the chance to be thankful for what we have, even before we get more.

So there you go - I'm incredibly thankful for Thanksgiving.
