Mmmmm... makes you hungry just looking at it, doesn't it?

This is what greeted me when our meal was served at the Boatyard Bar and Grill in Annapolis the other day -- an icon of Maryland cuisine, I present to you the delectable soft-shelled crab sammich.  And, of course, no soft-shelled crab sammich is complete without the requisite libation to wash it down with -- the Boatyard's own Chesapeake Ale (specially crafted for them by Otter Creek Brewing), a quite quaffable thirst quencher that's big on taste and light on the alcohol.

For folks not familiar with the Boatyard, it's the racing sailor's eatery of choice in the Annapolis area, though it's made quite a name for itself due to the quality of local seafood that is served and the decor that has so much local history mixed in.

I was delighted to see that the Boatyard is participating in the "From the Bay, For the Bay" program being sponsored by MD-DNR, to promote Maryland seafood that's caught in our local waters.

If you ever find yourself staring at three condiment shakers like those in the image below, the one with the red contents is likely to contain Old Bay Seasoning, the gold standard for eating with Maryland blue crabs.

Oh... and one more thing.  Here's the portion of the meal delivered by ferry -- the "official dessert of the state of Maryland", brought straight to us via boat from Smith Island (they don't have an airport like Tangier Island does).
