In the last few months I have picked up a few Photoshop techniques here and there. They have really helped me to post-process my images. So, I went back and processed couple of pictures that I was unhappy with.
The first picture is of the Grand Canyon, captured using a Point & Shoot camera during our four day trip to West in 2010. The view was surreal, as we were waiting for the snow and thick fog to clear up, the sun came out of nowhere and everything cleared for 30 minutes before it started snowing again. I was so excited to see the grandeur of Mother Nature. In that 30 minute time frame, I must have captured at least 300 pictures. But when I saw my pictures, they were disappointing; they were all hazy and foggy. I recently processed them using a new Photoshop technique to extract details and clarity. After a year, I am finally happy with my picture.

The second picture is from South Carolina. I went on road-trip after getting my first DSLR camera. I was like a kid on a high dose of sugar. I was taking pictures of everything that I found even remotely interesting. This is a picture of some pier at Charleston. There is nothing exciting about this picture but the conversion into monochrome adds nice simplicity and contrast. You can always go back and convert any old picture to monochrome or spice it up using textures.

For me, photography is a learning process and the best way is to experiment with it. Every day you learn some new techniques. So, do not discard any pictures unless you really think it is unsalvageable. You can always go back and re-process it. And if you have any questions, just Google it or go on YouTube, there are hundreds of sites and videos on Photoshop.
